every time we turn the key to start the boat, before the motor starts an alarm goes off. We do not know why it comes on. we have added automatic trans. fluid, sternal fluid, both were low, however it alarms and then stops once we start the engine. any ideas, we are scratching our heads. the boat is a 1992 sunray sundance 270. we just bought the boat.

Hi this is normal, its a 'self check' of the audabal alarm system which will sound once the engine is running and ether the oil pressure drops or the engine over heats

Alarm is for your protection

Many engine manufacturers design their products with a buzzer that will sound when oil pressure is low. Generally in this case the buzzer will will sound when you initially crank the engine and will cease in a few second while the oil pressure builds to a safe operating level. If so equipped, this feature should be documented in your engine owner manual.

Hope this helps.

Happy cruising,
