2007 Mercury 60 hp 4 stroke efi charging problem

by Michael

have a Mercury 60 hp outboard that is blowing the 15 amp Smartcraft Data Bus fuse and stops charging the batteries. The fuse blows when the engine is revved above 2000 rpm.

So far I have done the following:

Had the batteries checked both checked out ok.

Checked the stator output with DVA meter and got about 26v at 800 rpm and about 76v at 2000 rpms.

Replace voltage regulator/rectifier.

Checked, cleaned and tighten all engine grounds.

The fuse still blows when revved up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Possible short

Possibly there is a short in the connection to the gauge in the dash from the rectifier.
