2004 21' seaswirl steering frozen

I have a 2004 21' seaswirl cc with yamaha 4stroke 150. The steering cable appears to be stuck or the steering assembly is not working. The tie rod pushes thru the motor mount ok when i disconnect the nut at the end of the cable however the steering wheel won't turn and the cable won't retract. there is a warning sign on the steering assembly cover cautioning not to disassemble at risk of damageing steering mechanism. What advice can you give me regarding opening the assembly to check if it is functioning properly? |
