I had the same problem if once you start it and as soon as you put it in gear tap the choke a time or 2 and it will take off it is having a drain back from the carbs a rebuild is abot 125 to 175 per carb through a mechanic

Needs a tune up ! But ! They will do that before the power packs go out too! Do not disturb the battery hook up ! U do not use jumper cables or anything that can cause a short ! Promise ! Been there done that ! It will send a surge to the packs and damage them !
