1994 Evinrude 70, cuts out when the key is released

Initially the engine battled to start but once run ning it started everytime - almost like flooding. Now if the key is held in the start position the motor runs. I have replaced the kill switch and the key switch the problem still remains. Do you perhaps know where I should be looking please

Evinrude 70 Starting

I have found the fault. After replacing the key & kill switch, the fault had to be on the motor. Removed the insulation tape and cable ties on all the visible wiring, undid the CDI & the rectifier. Whilst all was open the motor started. Once all the wiring was taped and th cables neatly secured, it did not start again.
The fault proved to be the earth wire on the CDI unit, it was broken off in the shrink sleeving. resolderd the wire and re-attached to bottom coil bolt (earth.
After doing the wiring I decided to grease a few spots - NEVER grease the rubber on the starter motor - this is the clutch.remove, strip, clean with a good degreaser to resolve.
