I recently bought a Bass Tracker Pro 17 with a n 1988 Mercury 50 HP (no longer oil injected)(they did a conversion to make it a mix set up) Long story short after letting the engine warm up for a few I slowly take off and as the boat gets up to speed I keep on pushing the throttl more and more until it is at it's full capapcity and the boat a lot of the times will stay around 20mph and as your going your feel it jerk and the sounds on the enigne change as if its about to kick and and when it does off I go up to 35 mph very quickly. What may be causing this, a bad spark plug, bad compression, dirty fuel filter??? Please let me know your thoughts. This is my first boat I have ever owned so I am still new to boat owning.
