115 Mercury 4 stroke

I have a brand new Mako Pro Skiff with a 115 Mercury 4 stroke, I accidentally left the battery switch in the on position, for like 2 days. Today I noticed the motor had trimmed itself all the way up even breaking the bungee cord for the motor toted and the battery was totally dead. I charged the battery and was able to trim the motor back down. Any idea why this happened, in addition it has rained for the last 2 days.
Thank you in advance Ward
